Sweet Geometry

We've been studying geometry in school. Nicholas does really well with spatial problem solving so he's really enjoying it. He's always enjoyed working with tangram puzzles which are based on various shapes and their different orientations. Today we came up with a new way to work with shapes.

We pulled out some toothpicks and jelly beans.

Nicholas poked some toothpicks into the jelly beans...

...then he formed various shapes with them.

We had a good time playing with our handmade math manipulatives. Of course, we had more fun eating them once when we were done!
