Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown is a classic children's bedtime story. It was first published in 1947 and has been a popular book ever since. The story is about a little bunny who is ready for bed but he must first say goodnight to each and every thing in his room (my children try to stall bedtime like this too!). The illustrations by Clement Hurd are wonderful. The pages alternate between black and white drawings and full 2 page colorful spreads. Most of the things in the room stay the same throughout the book, except for that pesky mouse who appears in different places on the colored illustrations. I know Rachel still listens to the story because she has memorized parts of it. But as you can see from this video, she spends most of her time talking about and looking for that silly mouse.
P.S. - I just love this video of Daddy reading to his little girl. So sweet!
