We haven't done much Spanish in our homeschool this year. I just couldn't find something that would make it fun for Nicholas yet also help me learn Spanish along the way too.
As part of The Old Schoolhouse Homeschool review crew, I recently had the opportunity to try out REAL Homeschool Spanish. I was given a downloadable bundle which included the book, activity book, audio files, answer guide, and the daily curriculum planner. I was excited to check it out!
The first thing I was curious about is rather a silly thing but I wondered what the "R.E.A.L." stood for.
R - Relax
E - Enjoy
A - Aspire
L - Learn Spanish
What I like about the program is that it is designed to teach conversational Spanish. We don't have to spend a lot of time worrying about writing, spelling, and such. We're just focusing on how to use the language in our day to day conversations. This makes is easy and super fun to practice with each other throughout the day because the vocabulary words that we are learning just easily fit into our normal conversations.
And the audio files are a must for me and have been very helpful. My only complaint about the entire program though was that it took me a while to figure out how to access and use the audio files. I think it's just because I'm not as tech savvy as I'd like to be but I do think this could be made a bit clearer in the directions.
The Book includes 10 units, 55 vocab clusters and 15 idea sections of ways to further learning. The planner helps me plan ahead and keep track of what we have learned.
The Activity Book is my son's favorite part. It's full of fun activities like word searches, crosswords, word scrambles, and more! You can check out a sample of the Activity Book HERE.
It's a relaxed and easy to follow program that we can work on at our own pace. We are learning a foreign language and having fun doing it!

I love that it is a one time price and not a monthly online subscription like another program I was considering.
