This Is Why We Only Buy Crayola Markers...

Ahh, it's only a matter of time before a young child will use a marker on something they shouldn't whether it's the wall, their clothes, or the doll stroller that she got for her birthday only 5 months ago!

Fortunately, we only have Crayola WASHABLE markers in our house so this mess came right out with a damp washcloth and light rubbing.

Thank you, Crayola!

Blue And Gold Banquet

The Blue and Gold Banquet is a celebration of Cub Scouting. Essentially, it's a birthday party for Cub Scouts, the organization. It is also a way to say goodbye to the departing Webelos dens as they will bridge on to their Boy Scout troops at the next Pack Meeting.

The theme for this year's Banquest was western. Nicholas had to wear his scout uniform but the rest of us had fun getting dressed up a little.

It was a good thing that Stuart looked like a sheriff because he certainly had to play the role. Here he has a vice grip on the girl just to keep her in her seat and not running all over the place.

We are proud of Nicholas and how much he has gotten out of Cub Scouts this year. He was chosen to be in the Color Guard to present the flags at the beginning of the banquet.

And here is our awesome group of boys from Pack 62! Nicholas is on the front row, 5th from the left.

The banquet was nice. The food was great and there was a lot of macarena and chicken dancing going on.

And the fire alarm was only pulled for fun once!

The Chocolate Thief

You know Rachel is hiding something when you see her hunkered over like this with her eyes sneaking a peek around her every now and then.

At the Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquet, our table had some gold foil covered chocolate coins for decoration. We told the kids that they could have one after the table decoration judging was over and they had eaten their dinner.

But Rachel just couldn't stand the wait!

La-te-dah...nothing happening here...

And this is the funniest video! Not only does she try to play coy and ignore the fact that she has some contraband chocolate but then...THEN...she sneaks another chocolate coin by using her FACE to slide it over to her! If that isn't desperation, I don't know what is!

We can't figure out how she learned to be so sneaky. Nicholas has never been like this so how is she coming up with these ideas?

Rita's: Ice-Custard-HAPPINESS!

Another wonderful homeschool tour! This time it was at Rita's in Southlake...our favorite frozen treat. Oh happy day!

They started us off with free frozen ice for everyone. Now that's the way to start a party!

Rachel and Nicholas both chose Kiwi-Strawberry.

Yum!

Then our tour really started. We learned about one of the most important things to keep in mind when we are around food - Cleanliness.

We reviewed how to properly wash our hands and for how long....for as long as it takes to sing your ABCs.

Then we all got nice Rita's visor hats and took turns washing our hands before the tour.

I loved going behind the magical frozen ice counter to see where the action really takes place.

Our tour guide was just great with the kids. She let them help her measure the water.

And the sugar.

Then she chose the blue cotton candy flavoring off the shelf.....mmmm, those shelves are full of taste bud happiness.

We watched the whole batch being made and put into the machine where it will be frozen and turned into a frozen tasty treat. After the tour, the kids were given goody bags with stickers and even a coupon for a free frozen ice!

The goody bags also had coloring pages and crayons for the kids.

We sat on the patio and colored for a bit but the day was so pretty and the kids were full of sugar so we soon headed to the playground for some fun outdoors.

Rita's + great friends + playground = Happy Day

When It Gets Too Quiet

....Rachel is probably getting into something.

Today it happened to be a bottle of lotion.

While Nicholas and I were working on Phonics, we realized that we no longer heard Rachel puttering around in the playroom.

We found her in an upstairs bathroom.

She had happily squirted out the entire contents of my bottle of lotion. She squirted some on the floor and smeared it all around with her hand before emptying the rest of the bottle on the mat in front of the shower.
