Texas Sculpture Garden

The Texas Sculpture Garden in Frisco is a neat place to visit. There are over 100 sculptures in both the indoor and outdoor exhibits. We saw some really big sculptures and some small sculptures.



Nicholas thought this looked like a sculpture with Kryptonite on top of it!



In addition to the sculptures, we enjoyed the landscaping, ponds, fountains, rocks to climb on, and winding trails.









We even found a cool spider web along the way!



I love these pictures of Stuart with the kids!











Of course, Nicholas loved being a ham for the camera!

City On Our Knees

I love Fellowship Church for bringing so many people to Christ through their inspirational messages, awesome music, and creative worship. Stuart serves on camera for the weekend service but he also does some volunteer photography work for them as well. Fellowship recently requested some photographs for a video to go along with "City on our Knees" that the worship team was going to perform. I'm so proud of Stuart's work. He has three of his pieces in this video. One is a single shot from a Habitat For Humanity build that he worked at this year (2:42 into the video). There is also a sequence of shots that start at the Fellowship Church sign and expand outward from there to show the traffic on 121 in front of the church (starts at 3:13).

My favorite shots of all are a sequence of shots that Stuart got of the DFW skyline (starts at 3:27). He took this from on top of the mound in Flower Mound. It was late at night and he was out there for a while trying to get just the right shots. While he was there in the dark, he could see someone approaching him. He was already talking to me on his cell phone so he told me what was happening. I was about to call 911 from the home phone when he mentioned that the person had a flashlight. Bad guys probably wouldn't want a flashlight that would draw attention to themselves, but I was still nervous for him. Fortunately it was just a police officer checking to see if Stuart was up to no good. Stuart showed him the pictures he had taken so far. The officer was impressed with his work and especially amazed that Stuart's pictures taken in Flower Mound picked up skyscrapers in downtown Dallas.

It was great seeing this video playing at church tonight. It was shown on the big screen behind the band as they performed this song. Awesome!

Party at Boomerangs

We went to Boomerangs today for a birthday party for our friends, Z. and M. They are twins who are turning 3 years old. Nicholas had a blast, as always, playing with the kids on all the cool inflatables.

Nicholas also loves this virtual reality video game. He has learned from some other kids that you can look under the game machines or in their return coin slots to find lost tokens. So he racked up a bunch of tokens and spent quite a while on this game.



During the birthday celebration, Nicholas leaned over to talk to the birthday girls. He had lots of worldly advice for them, since he is 5 years old and so much older than them :) One of the things I overheard him telling them is, "You are three now but just wait. When you turn five, maybe you'll be able to play Xbox like me."



I don't think the girls know what Xbox is but I just love how they are listening intently to Nicholas' sage advice for them.

Texas National Guard

We were driving around the Irving/Las Colinas area and believe it or not we saw a back lot full of all kinds of military vehicles. We all said "Wow!" and then Nicholas said, "I would love to see a tank". Sure enough, we made it around the building and out in front were two huge tanks! We had no idea why all of these military vehicles and tanks were at this place but we soon learned that it was the Texas National Guard. What fun to stumble upon something like this. Of course, Nicholas had fun exploring the tank!

Buckle Up!

We had just gotten back from a walk and I had unbuckled Rachel from the stroller so we could go inside. Nicholas decided that he wanted to play with sidewalk chalk and as I was talking to him, Rachel started trying to put her seat belt back on. It was cute. She isn't coordinated enough to figure it out but she's got a good idea of how it is supposed to work. It's neat how much children pick up when you don't think they are even noticing what you are doing.
